If you thought it wasn't easy being cheesy, wait 'til you get a load of Malika, who has the gift of foresight, which some call a blessing and she calls a curse.

Malika doesn't know which way to turn as her life turns and tumbles upside down. After a lifetime of sacrifices for her family, Malika's husband decides to kick her to the curb, along with the children and bills, leaving Malika distraught over her new position in life as a single mother.

Trying to find some refuge, Malika decides to take a vacation to the islands where she meets friends, learns about her gift and gains a new perspective on life, but, to what expense.

EARTHQUAKE SHOOK THE EARTH

I can't believe, we've been praying for Japan and then, we get hit with a quake. A 5.9 earthquake shakes the east coast on many levels. The Epicenter of the quake wasn't even a mile deep, but was felt from NC to NY & RI.

Many were buzzing about the quake on twitter and Facebook, afraid, not knowing what more to expect. Then there were those like me, conspiracy theorist who are watching, eyes wide open just to be sure and on alert that there is nothing else we should be concerned about.

So far a few aftershocks were noted near DC area, however, nothing up north. Tweeters have tweeted that some streets were hectic there in DC and the people were in hysterics in business areas. People are warned to stand under doorways or go under tables in the event of another earthquake. Meanwhile, the rest of us are praying for no surprise aftershocks, while meteorologist report, no tsunami is underway.

To this end, we pray that there will be no need to continue this post, on any level. As we look forward to more pleasant circumstances, and pleasantries.

So, I was trying to get this Twitter thing down when I saw a few people I wanted to befriend, oh that's facebook; well, that i wanted to follow. Long story short, I went from following one to the other to finaly I saw MC Lyte. To my surprise, as my goal was to learn Twitter (although I can't help but feel like a twit when on there because just as soon as I think I've got it, I lose it), I was so happy because I'm like, if I'm going to follow folks, I at least want to follow those I have something in common with or that I really like and/or admire.

Long story short, again, I see her website and decide to check it out. I read and see she has a few sites going on. So, I was fortunate enough to review one of the sites titled, "Okay Sister." Why do I like the name of this site so much guys--I'll tell you why. Because it's subtle and to the point. The minute I opened the site I felt invited in; a very nice site. Lyte shares her whereabouts with you, her goings on, who she's with, why, etc. I love this because I see Lyte as a real person and I love knowing how she's doing, because I knew she had the talent and the knack to be one of the greatest MC's of our time, really. I also love knowing how Toni Braxton is doing, who confirmed for me on Twitter that she also has Lupus; having Lupus myself I of course want to know about my sister...

But anywayze, I'm so excited I get to follow Lyte's blog. I'm sure you all will be as excited, and I have to tell you. When you visit her site you feel like you are getting celebrity scoops in a decent and moral way; fun and clean cut, not like the tabloids. Imagine back in the day, waking up on a Sunday morning, sitting on the stoop of your neighborhood eating your bowl of cereal, and you see your friend and ask her how the party was last night. She sits with her bowl of cereal and tells you who was there, what type of event it was, what she did, how much fun they had, how the music was, etc. Well, this is similar. I felt enlightened. Ironic right.

Okay, i'm out. I hope I wasn't in journalist mode too much was I. I hate to flip flop as I'm working on two screenplays, reviewing my next novel and trying to go after conventional publishers, and, I just can't be in this journalist mode y'all have me in {folded arms, smirk on face}.

Hello, All. Okay, so, I get a call from a noted Publicist who advises me according to my goals and vision. This particular Publicist has done things to help many celebrities and has worked with MTV, ABC, NBC and many others.

Hello to all.

All is well with the book. There is a lot to be done and there has been a lot of things taking place.

I've done a radio interview on Rutgers Radio station. I'll be putting it up on the internet soon.

I've completed an interview at Prison Radio, which will be linked to this blogspot shortly. Please pray for them, they were affected by the natural weather disaster in Georgia some months ago.

Okay, so, some of you blasted me out for not placing a post. So, I'm going to put something here about the book.

I've gotten some really positive feedback about, Life Knows No Bounds, "1 Who Luvs U More" Some people are ranting and raving about a part two wondering and asking me is there in fact going to be a part two. well, I'm going to let you sweat on that one, but, if you read the last page and use critical thinking, you'll find the answer.

Others who read the book question the behavior of Alisa, the main character. One of the most popular questions is, "Why is she acting like that?" My answer is that she is your typical young girl coming of age. She wants to be grown and only knows a smidgen of what's needed to be grown, and only in the areas and at the time she puts her head into it. More than anything, seeing Omar and his new Cadillac, realizing he's changed and is not the snot nose kid she saw growing up, but instead a fine chocolate candy bar, is inspiration enough for her to take her dead great grandmother's advice and, "Always get a man who loves you more than you love him."

I was asked about Omar's intentions, "Does he really love Alisa or is he a smooth player?" Others have asked, "Why does he behave like that? Hardly any emotion." But I say to that point, "But, he knows what he wants and he's going for it," but it's just that once he gets it/her, he is haunted by his conscious; it won't allow him to be comfortable.

No. 1 Ladies' Detective

I am so enjoying it. But the recent episode that I've watched really sent me over the top. I felt laughter, as Anika aka Grace Makutsi is hilarious; I felt sorrow for the lost American whose mother has to know what happened to her son; I felt the love I'd feel in my heart if I could go to Africa, any part and visit the motherland; but then I felt sadness with the results of the investigation, and when Precious Ramotswe aka Jill Scott visited the grave of her baby, a baby she lost due to a beating by her ex-husband.

I won't lie though, the show is very interesting and entertaining. However, when they start talkin that voodoo hoodoo, which i only saw once, and mildly, I began to ponder how long I would watch it. Somethings, I just can't do.

This movie has reeled me in like no other. I thought "The Wire" had me going, and "Oz," well I can't explain the eerie...feeling that series offered, but Jill Scott and crew are a delight to watch and I don't like detective stories.

My mother tried to get me to like Nancy Drew, my grandmother introduced me to Sherlock Holmes, and my professor tried to introduce hard boil fiction. But, HBO did a GREAT job introducing me to and maintaining my interest in watching and following the series of, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency."

People are really taking me there; they are really getting on my nerves. Why is it that Michelle Obama is being critized for accepting Queen Elizabeth's hug with a return hug and embrace? It would be rude to be a stiff and do nothing, and it evidently was a show of affection on the Queens behalf and appreciation of it on the behalf of Michelle. Uuuuugh!

People are truly getting on my nerves, especially with criticizing Obama for not really doing much and for the few things he's done. As Mos Def said on Bill Maher show, "He's only been in office a few months; give him some time to do something."

I feel they wanted Bush and the republicans OUT, and so they'd have taken anyone in to do so. But now that he's done it, became president, they're ready to knock him.

I want to say, "Back up off of them and give them a break!!!" But I know only the walls will hear me, oh, and that fly in the corner. So, instead I will just write it here with hopes all will share it:

Okay, so, we're at the count down on publishing the 1st series of novels for
Life Knows No Bounds, which is titled 1 Who Luvs U More. We're very excited
and have added several people to our company to include a marketer, publicist, and
others.

This novel has been ready but excited about putting out a novel that will capture
the audience's attention, we've been tugging it back and forth. But, now's the time.

We've even found a model to take a picture for the cover. She looks just like none
other than Lisa Raye from "All of Us," and "Player's Club." I've discussed with her that she should really consider acting, so we'll see what happens. But I gotta tell you, she acted well when portraying a sad and lonely Alisa, the main character of
"1 Who Luvs U More" for the front cover.

A West Florida woman has been arrested after pouring scalding hot water on her husband's groin, says authorities, says authorities.

52-year-old Maverna Theresa Turay of Manatee County was arrested by the Manatee Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday. She was charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

While Theresa Turay's husband slept she boiled and tossed hot water on her husband's groin. The result was second degree burns. Neighbors said when Theresa poured the water, Mr. Turay ran out of the house screaming. A family member called 911 for help.

Turay was flown to a Tampa hospital for treatment. Report show Theresa Turay had been drinking alcohol, and according to the Associated Press said she gave no reason for pouring the hot water on her mate. Lastly, the Manatee County judge set a $7,500 bond while hse sits in Manatee County Jail.
{Do you think she remembers what she did? Or did it take a drunk mind to set revenge on him for something he did to or with someone else, hmmm.}.

They say this Palin person, Gov. from Alaska is the Maverick in an effort to take away any thought that she is a "lady." Disney's Plight Over Finally Giving Blacks A Cartoon

Is there freedom of speech? Or is there freedom of speech when you're speaking of your own kind, race, religion, etc., but when you venture to speak of someone else, watch your mouth?

Now, I don't have a problem if the main character has to be a model of her time, especially if the cartoon is done as a remake of a prior play etc., I mean, be fair, it is what it is. If the person in the play was poor like Cinderella and a maid, whatcha' gonna do?

I have a problem with the fact that if you want to do a cartoon film on a princess, and she is a princess, how do you figure you're going to find one in America? You KNOW darn well there are NO black princess' in America; the film should've been based out of Africa where there were TONS of princess' throughout history, and even now. Disney would merely have to choose one, or, heck, they could even make one up. Heck, they could model her after Angela Basset.

To be sensitive, they only had to hire a team of multi cultured film makers as consultants to
make sure that they don't stray and unknowingly be disrespectful. I say multicultural because along with the black cause, we need others to tell them if they are exaggerating, because you know after all we've been through, we are quite sensitive.

But, idunno. I just feel awkward and I feel that those complaining about a black Mammy, in the cartoon who was initially named Maddy, so close to Mammy, and her being a maid, sorry, I feel with this we are merely scraping off the top, digging in our bag of the usual complaints.

I think it's deeper than that. Why is it when a story comes out of Africa it's always about Tarzan or a white man discovering and taking it back to their queen/king or government; or Animals who can talk and act ghetto or country dumb; or, coming out of Egypt or Morocco where there are Arabs with lighter skin that some deem more acceptable or more entertaining to movie goers for 1 and a half to 2 hours?

See, I think some of us are thinking all wrong. There were Mammy's, and if they were in the 1920's Louisiana, and she was a maid who finally was blessed to have a happy ending, well, that's fine, especially since it'll probably be after she saw her father hung for looking at a white woman, and her male cousin and brother whipped or shot dead because it was hunt a nigga season, and her sister or mother was raped or at minimal embarrassed about how black juice (from a woman's private parts) is always delightful to a white man. Heck, give her a happy ending with a prince, it happened to Cinderella and a few others, let it happen for her.

My problem is, if you want to make up for NEVER having a black princess, why can't you do it from out of Africa, show/give some history while you're at it. Show black girls and women how those before us had courage, were smart, strong, proud and resilient? I know it isn't your job Disney, but heck, you gave a mermaid a happy ending and in the real European story, all her family and friends die or end up miserable, but you did that for her (the mermaid).

But if you won't, or didn't ever do a movie on Blacks, I have no problem with that. Do you. We would just have to get off our butts and do a cartoon of black princess' for ourselves. Like Bill Cosby did his very own black cartoon. I bet they wish they'd never even bothered, saying, "we were doomed if we did, and doomed if we never did this cartoon in the eyes of black folk." Maybe they're right.

First let me apologize to Elaine @ "The Sharp Pencil Manuscript editing and production." I wanted to explain what I wanted in a line editor and so I copied and pasted the definition from her website. After having seen many other explanations and details about line editing/substantive editing, I wanted to get across what exactly I was looking for, and moving so quick to find an editor, I did not cite her website, and totally forgot to get permission to do so. I pray she accepts my apologies as I am a writer myself, as well as journalist and should have known better. I am in need of a line editor to fulfill the following for an African American novel:

***Line editing. Also known as stylistic editing or medium editing. In addition to the tasks performed as part of copyediting, includes clarifying meaning; rewording jargon and awkward phrasing; eliminating wordiness; changing passive voice to active voice; flagging inappropriate, ambiguous, or incorrect statements; ensuring parallel structure; rearranging sentences within paragraphs; correcting inconsistencies in writing style and tone; and flagging discrepancies in plot, setting, and character traits.

The manuscript is 160 pages and 67,000 words.
There is a multitude of slang and so it is vital that the person applying for the job have this type of experience.

Even out of the Novel, Life Knows No Bounds

Regarding My Novel

Well, I've got a lot of feedback from professionals, Entertainment Lawyers, Publicist, Agents and Published Authors. It appears that the novel I was going to publish Life Knows No Bounds has a few changes:

- I will not publish with Print On Demand as they get 75% of profits, leaving me less than 25%
- I have started my own publishing company so I can make the 75% myself, along with more
as an Author.
- I will not be publishing a book of short stories, as told to me by an associate and publicist, I will
be instead publishing 5 novels within the next few years, as she puts it, "Novellas aren't really
selling," and your book has far more than the # of pages for a novel.
- Each of the novels will bare the title Life Knows No Bounds as a title, with their own sub title.

These are changes I didn't want to do. Being the rebel I am I wanted to do things my way, like Frank Sinatra sang. But, in this case my way wasn't going to benefit anyone, me, the publisher; anyone. So, I am submitting/conforming to the way things are done, and I guess I can creatively express myself later when I am a known someobody, right?
